Latest Announcements

There are no higher priorities for the AASECT community than the safety and health of our members, supporters, and staff. In response to the news in recent weeks regarding COVID-19, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update regarding membership renewal, AASECT certification renewal, AASECT approved in-person CE events and the AASECT Annual Conference.

AASECT President Susan Stiritz

Dear Colleagues, I am writing to thank you for the opportunity to have served as President of AASECT over the past two years. They have been years of challenge and change, progress and promise. While as a nation we are in the midst of a devastating pandemic and of painful manifestations of white supremacy, we also seem to be at a point of positive paradigm change in our nation’s history. AASECT seems to be at similar inflection points.

Exhibitor/Sponsor Details - AASECT Conference Cancellation

2020 AASECT Exhibitors and Sponsors -  As you may already be aware, the 2020 AASECT Annual Conference in Palm Springs has been cancelled. The Conference Planning Committee is exploring options for hosting a virtual experience and will continue to do so in the weeks ahead. Please stay tuned for more details on their plans.

AASECT Conference Cancellation

As you may unfortunately have heard through a premature communication from our conference hotel, J.W. Marriott has closed its doors until early June, and AASECT will not be hosting our 2020 Annual Conference in Palm Springs as planned. We would have preferred to have shared cancellation news with you ourselves, rather than have some of you hear the news from the hotel and others from colleagues who received the hotel’s cancellation emails. The hotel confirmed that some notices were sent out accidently ahead of notifying us earlier this week. We want to say how sorry we are for any inconvenience you have experienced and for our not being able to get the news to you first.

A note from AASECT Executive Director Kellie Braband: The COVID-19 pandemic has immediate and long-lasting implications for how people work and participate in associations. Our top priority is to protect the health and safety of our members and staff. The AASECT Board of Directors, staff and committees are working together to make rapid, highly-informed decisions about meetings and programs, and taking immediate actions to ensure that member services continue seamlessly.

COVID-19: Update

The health and safety of our professional community is of the utmost importance to AASECT. In response to an increase in the reported cases of COVID-19, the AASECT Board of Directors is meeting on Friday, March 13th to discuss how best to support our AASECT Approved CE Providers and their attendees as well as assess any risk to the upcoming AASECT Annual Conference taking place in Palm Springs, CA in June.

AASECT Social Event

Yesterday, in Denver, we had one of, if not the largest local section event ever held for AASECT.  We had 200 people come to see Dr. Emily Nagoski.  It was an intersection of more than 100 AASECT members, plus local members from the EFT community, plus students and faculty from Denver Family Institute, a long-time CE Provider. (Janelle Washburne, Scott Church and I are all AASECT CST's who all teach at Denver Family Institute).
