Apply for an AASECT Scholarship for the 2018 Annual Conference! AASECT is excited to announce the scholarships available this year to help offset the cost of attending the 2018 Annual Conference: AASECT Creating Community Scholarship, The Bill T. Jones Scholarship and The John Sughrue, Jr., MD, Scholarship. Application deadline is February 16, 2018. For more information on applying, please visit the conference website.
As we prepare for changing the guard at AASECT, I want to congratulate and thank these three people for accepting invitations from the AASECT board to appointed positions of service, starting July 1, 2018: Eli Green, PhD, CSE; Margie Nichols, PhD, CST; and James Wadley, PhD, CST. There will be further appointments later and, of course, our election in March will take us into a new two-year cycle of volunteer leadership for AASECT. I am looking forward to my own AASECT Presidency and to results of our selection of a new President-Elect and Treasurer.

With male sexuality, power, privilege and non-consensual sex offenses continuing to make headlines, I'm pleased that AASECT has been able to provide some much needed insight to the Media, particularly when unequivocally clarifying that the abuses we've been seeing do NOT constitute sex addiction nor is sex addiction therapy a valid way of conceptualizing treatment for these offenders and their offenses.
Greetings AASECT Members! Are you looking for professional guidance or advice within the AASECT community? Are you interested in helping mentor less experienced sexuality professionals? If so, consider joining the new and improved AASECT Mentoring Program!
On behalf of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), we are heartbroken, disappointed, outraged, and horrified by the recent displays of racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism, and violence in Charlottesville. We recognize that white supremacy is not limited to this historical time or place. We also recognize that bigoted actions such as those displayed have deep and lasting impacts on us all, including our students, patients and clients.
