AASECT 48th Annual Conference - Letter from the Conference Co-chairs


As we come together June 8-12, 2016 in San Juan, Puerto Rico for AASECT's 48th Annual Conference, we will examine the theme "Putting the Pieces Together: Inclusivity in Practice" as a means to increase the richness of the diverse identities and experiences within our field and AASECT. We hope you will be a part of the conference that features sessions exploring the ways in which we can work, with an eye towards expanding our understanding of the importance and significance of practicing inclusivity and impact-awareness, in the field of sexuality.

 

Registration

Registration for AASECT's 48th Annual Conference is now open! We invite you to join us June 8-12, 2016 at the beautiful Condado Plaza Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico. To register, please click here, and choose 'Register Now.' You will need your AASECT username and password to register for the event. If you do not have one, you will need to create an account.The early bird registration deadline for the 48th Annual Conference is April 15, 2016.

 

Hotel Accommodations - Condado Plaza Hilton

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Condado Plaza Hilton for June 8-12, 2016. AASECT's special room rate will be available until May 7, 2016 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first. Conference 'Schedule at a Glance'

The conference schedule is packed with seven pre-conference workshops (which include a SAR), four plenary sessions, over 70 concurrent workshops and a Poster Session with more than 40 poster presentations. A great number of sessions will highlight diverse identities and honor various intersections of sexuality and LGBTQ people, people of color, people with disabilities, military veterans, older adults, youth, and people who identify with Kink/BDSM. This year's conference will also focus on today's issues impacting many of our profession's communities - racism, social justice, privilege, accessibility, and more. Zika Virus

AASECT is closely monitoring the Zika Virus situation in Puerto Rico, and we are in constant communication with the Puerto Rico Convention and Visitor's Bureau. All conference activities will be held indoors to reduce mosquito exposure. While in Puerto Rico, take a tour of the island!

While in San Juan for the conference, you may want to visit local sites, relax on the beach or take a tour of the island.
