AASECT Certification Update
Dear Members and Certified Professional Members of AASECT,
It excites me to thank and praise AASECT’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee as they propel our organization forward and challenge us to be better professionals and people. Because of their efforts, a new Section V. #C will become effective for all certifications as of midnight on 31 December 2020.

Section V, #C. shall replace Section V, #O and read: “Intersections of race, ethnicity, sexuality and gender, with specific attention on elements of power, privilege, and oppression both within intimate relationships and larger systems. This should also include interpersonal awareness of one’s own identities and how elements of power, privilege, and oppression are perpetuated in one’s work as an educator, counselor, and therapist.”

Section VI, #E. shall read: “Peer-to-peer professionalism including principles of consultation, collaboration, and referral.”
