I also wish to thank Dr. Sally Valentine, former Chair of the Certification Steering Committee, and the Chairs and Members of the Sex Educator, Counselor, Therapist, and Practitioners Supervisors Certification Committees for their time and energy. Thanks to their discussions at our Certification meeting and on-line, you will note various changes to the certifications here:
Updated in the Educator, Counselor, and Therapist Certifications:
Section V, #C. shall replace Section V, #O and read: “Intersections of race, ethnicity, sexuality and gender, with specific attention on elements of power, privilege, and oppression both within intimate relationships and larger systems. This should also include interpersonal awareness of one’s own identities and how elements of power, privilege, and oppression are perpetuated in one’s work as an educator, counselor, and therapist.”
Section VI, #E. shall read: “Peer-to-peer professionalism including principles of consultation, collaboration, and referral.”
Updated in the Counselor and Therapist Certifications:
Section VI, #F. shall read: “Ethical decision making, best practices, and provider to client professionalism.”
