Colorado AASECT Section Meet & Greet - April, 2016
April 4, 2016. 11am to 1:30pm: Sex for Sale: Supporting Sex Workers in a Therapeutic Setting, Presented by Nicole Danielle - 1 AASECT CE Credit
Description: Sex work is an umbrella term that encompasses all sexual services, performances, or products in exchange for money, shelter, food, etc. During this talk, we will learn about the invisible community of sex workers from a professional dominatrix who has worked in various positions in the adult entertainment industry for nearly a decade. We will explore the stigmatization, societal oppression, risks, and challenges that sex workers face on a daily basis in various settings. We will discover the differences between sex work and sex trafficking and attendees will gain information that will enable them to offer educated and ethical care to those working in the adult entertainment industry.
The Colorado Section of AASECT consists of a highly committed group of sexuality educators, counselors and therapists. We come together from all over the state for networking, education and professional development. The events are held in Denver, Colorado on the first Monday of every other month from 11am to 1:30pm, starting February 1. There is a formal presentation at each meeting featuring outstanding educators, clinicians and authors from across the country. Past speakers include Dr. Patti Britton, Dr. Gina Ogden, Dr. Joe Kort, Dr. Ruth Morehouse, and Dr. Stephanie Buehler, to name a few.
The workshops are from 11am to 12pm with an interactive working lunch from 12pm to 1:30pm. All workshops are held in a beautiful private room at Piatti Restaurant in Cherry Creek, which is located at 190 St. Paul St. Denver, CO 80206. http://www.piatti.com/denver/. Our local AASECT events are a privilege of membership. Non-‐members are invited to attend one event before joining AASECT, space permitting. The workshops are offered free of charge, and the cost of lunch is $35 for a wonderful three-‐course Italian meal.
