The Rising Field of Sexuality Supervision: Exploring the Fundamentals to the Complex What Every Transformative Supervisor Needs to Know

August 10 - 13, 2017 - St. Louis, MO


AASECT Summer Institute registration is underway! 


If you are a sexuality educator, sexuality counselor or sex therapist and have been thinking about becoming a supervisor, the 2017 AASECT Summer Institute is a must-attend training experience for you!


The upcoming Institute is devoted to the development and growth of all supervisors, supervisors-in- training and those who want to dip their toes into the wonderful world of supervision. We will be diving deep into the experience and training of sexuality supervision during this three day meeting, August 10-13, 2017 in St. Louis, MO. 


Kicking off this summer’s institute will be nationally known supervision expert, Robert Taibbi, LCSW, who will be presenting a full day of supervision training. Over the course of the next three days some of AASECT’s most skilled supervisors will share their expertise, their particular styles and models and what their experiences in the field of sexuality supervision has taught them. 

Faculty will include Peggy Kleinplatz, PhD, DST, CSE, CSTS; Sallie Foley, LMSW, DST, CSTS, CSE, CSES; Gretchen Fincke, MSSW, DST, CSTS; Konnie McCaffree, PhD, CSE, CSES, CFLE; Susan Stiritz, PhD, MSW, MBA, CSE, CSES; James Wadley, PhD, CST, CSTS; Prem Pahwa, LCSW, CST; and Sally Valentine, PhD, FAACS, LCSW, CST, CSTS. We also will have two fabulous sex therapist supervisors, Gail Guttman, LCSW, DST, CSTS and Sylvia Rosenfeld, LCSW, CST, CSTS, demonstrating group work process utilizing Imago techniques.


The 2017 AASECT Summer Institute will: 

  • address theory to practice;
  • include issues such as countertransference, erotic transference in the supervisory context, personal biases and ethics;
  • examine cultural competency/cultural humility, confidentiality, dual relationships and supervisory responsibilities;
  • allow group supervision learning and group process experiences;
