Pre-Marital Counseling: A Guide for Clinicians
Angela Skurtu, M.Ed., LMFT is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Ballwin, MO.
Skurtu’s book Pre-Marital Counseling: A Guide for Clinicians (Rouledge, 2016) will come out in March 2016. The book discusses the predictive factors for marital success, 5 habits of healthy relationships, and how to keep the spark in relationships long term. In one of her chapters, she discusses how clinicians can encourage new couples to talk openly about their sexual expectations and desires.
Skurtu’s hope with the book is to teach clinicians how to offer premarital counseling that is non-religious and research based. Her book covers topics such as financial planning, blending families, and communication skills.
Skurtu was also featured in the Huffington Post article “What to do if you are less than satisfied with your sex life.” This article discussed several tips couples could take to improve the desire in the relationship. Skurtu’s goal in both pieces is to help couples create healthy, long lasting relationships that include a great sex life.
