AASECT Certification Frequently Asked Questions

One of the most frequently asked questions that we get from folks about AASECT Certification is: “How do I count the Continuing Education (CE) credits that I have accumulated when applying for AASECT Certification?”  

AASECT sponsored or AASECT approved CE credit coursework should be counted like this: (one CE credit = one AASECT CE credit).

All other professional CE credit coursework or professional programs/trainings should be counted like this: (two non-AASECT CE credits = one AASECT credit).

Clarifying AASECT Sexuality Educator Supervision: A minimum of twenty-five (25) hours of supervision with an AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator Supervisor is required, with a minimum of twelve (12) hours in individual supervision. Individual supervision means one-to-one supervision. 

Group supervision by phone or web meeting should have no more than four (4) people per one (1) hour session. If two supervisors meet together in person to do group supervision, they may have five (5) – eight (8) supervisees in a group. These larger group sessions should generally not extend longer than two (2) hours each.
