Important Changes to SAR Requirements Approved

Update 4/29/22: THERE ARE NEW GUIDELINES IN PLACE as of 2022 PLEASE CLICK HERE

Greetings, everyone!

A core aspect of the AASECT certification process and AASECT-approved continuing education offerings is the Sexual Attitude Reassessment (SAR). In a rapidly changing field, it is critical to update and evolve our standards of practice regularly.

The guidelines for SAR events have recently gone through the review process and the AASECT board of directors has approved the recommended updates. This included reviews and input from multiple angles including the DEI committee and a survey of the current standard practices by providers of SAR. My thanks to each member who contributed to the review and development process.

Please note the effective date is January 1, 2022, which allows a full year for the adaptation of your SAR events. The new guidelines replace the old guidelines effective January 1, 2022. Any SAR for which AASECT Continuing Education credits are given will only be approved if it follows the new guidelines after that date.

Warmly,

Joli Hamilton, PhD, CSE
PESC-AASECT
